About

Ordinary Objects is a design practice showcasing a growing collection of objects inspired by and made in the MENA/SWANA region.

By harnessing the expertise of local artisans and their traditional techniques, we aim to produce a series of objects that are uniquely representative of the MENA region while accessible to our region’s audience through our online store.

With our design and fabrication experiences, we are able to tap into existing networks of exceptional local artisans to create our objects.

Our team

Ordinary Objects was founded by Lebanese artist and designer Tamara Barrage and Kuwaiti architect and designer Hamad AlMuzaini. The two initially met as colleagues in Sharjah and decided to further explore their partnership after realizing how much they enjoyed working together and how complementary their skills were.

Tamara holds a Master’s degree from Design Academy Eindhoven and is deeply interested in materiality and production processes. Hamad holds a Master’s degree from Columbia University and focuses on design systems and digital fabrication.

Despite coming from different countries, Tamara and Hamad grew up around the same objects and rituals, which led them to establish Ordinary Objects—a brand dedicated to re-imagining those traditional objects shared across their region.

What we do

Through our online store, we showcase and sell items inspired by our region and crafted by regional artisans.
In addition to our ready-to-shop collection, Ordinary Objects offers bespoke commissions for restaurants and large custom orders.
